"A Strange Hour in Budapest" in details

There has already been a lot written about a new blu-ray, not only on this site. Alan Wilder has brilliantly used the power of social networks and regularly informs his fans via his blog and the newsletter. Each of us then got a rather precise idea about what values are hidden in A Strange Hour in Budapest. It was already suggested by a great trailer, in addition we could look straight into the production. However, what was apparently not expected by anybody was the speed in which the digipack edition would sell out. It took less than 24 hours for the numbered edition to disappear from the Recoil Store.

The Recoil team was very flexible in their response when they released the second, so called “red” edition. In the addition they promised an unspecified gift. And here came a space for fans speculations and questions. How much will the white edition differ from the red one? What will the gift be? In the following review I will try to answer all these questions.

Each package contained one extra Recoil A5 flyer and an exclusive CD "Sounds from the Matrix vol. 12" produced by Alfa-Matrix. Again the delivery raised complaints from some fans. Some of them got their box damaged – digipack crumpled or red edition cracked. Fortunately we were the lucky ones, so all who ordered the goods via the Recoil.CZ website, received everything in a perfect condition. Speaking for myself, I must say that the packaging was very careful and thorough. I cannot imagine how the post office would have handled the packages to cause this kind of damage. Another complaint was regarding the expensive postage (but we are already used to this) and inability to merge orders. Some collectors of course wanted both of the ASHIB editions - the first and the second one. They ordered a deluxe version of the original on time, and ordered again on the announcement of the red edition. But they were forced to pay the postage twice. However, the merchandise was shipped to them in one package. This complaint is fully understandable and valid. On the other hand, in my day job I also run an e-shop and I know that the reconfiguration of a logistic process in this case would probably lead to a more chaos and confusion.

Alan Wilder also announced a competition for five signed graphic artworks. It is very easy to enter. All you have to do, when you receive your Blu-ray, is to take a photograph of yourself holding or displaying your prized possession. Post it to your own Facebook page and to the official FB Recoil profile. Don’t forget to share the post with your friends so that it definitely gets seen. Better still, upload it as your Timeline image so that an automatic post is created. The photograph can be in any setting you like as long as it clearly shows you holding or displaying the Blu-ray package (open or closed) with or without any of the accompanying items such as the USB stick or T shirt if you like. Alan will choose his favourites and, if chosen, Shunt team will contact you and reward the five best photographs with these unique collectable pieces of art, each signed by Alan Wilder. The proofs in question were printed in Hungary as tests to form part of the final 16-page booklet designed by Ákos Szénási.

If you haven't ordered a new blu-ray yet or you don't have a player
where you can watch it, we invite you to the official screening
in
Lucerna cinema which will be attended by Alan Wilder himself!
